I haven't read anyone's reviews, I haven't clicked on a comm, I don't want to because it usually just gets my blood pressure up, but I know things are going to come up. Two things before we start.

* Have you never lied to a partner/spouse/booty calls parent/sibling/room mate about going to work just so you don't have to chew your arm off to get out of the interrogation morning of awkward? I know I have.

* She's not on Five-0 she's not working cases, she's doing favors for Steve. And I don't think he's using her that's how the pair of them phrase it in their own language. It works for them. I'm sure if Cath had 'favors' to ask of Steve he'd do them just as rapidly as she does for him. Thats what friends do.

All that said? What did I think of this episode?

Cath is made of Awesome.

that is about all.

ETA: FYI because I know this is going to come up, Steve wasn't being sexist or wtf else he's going to be accused of for calling Danny a Girl. Deal with it people thats what men do In fact in the real world he would have called him a pussy. Again, not sexist, just.what. men. do. Hell not even men. My sister bitches at me in just that tone, in fact almost that exact conversation all the time. What? It's alright for us to do because we're female and not for blokes. Those double standards are coming back out again.

So apparently I need to stop getting attached to Last Resort? I hope they leave it long enough to get resolution from the story line. Also if it does go at least that is another option for the currently homeless H50.

Also why is Barbie's the only show of this years new crop that I'm trying out, that looks like it will survive. Incidentally my shows I'm trying this season are Last Resort, New Normal, Elementary, Guys with Kids, Chicago Fire, Vegas, Beauty and the beast & Partners. I gave up on 666 Park Avenue because it wasn't doing it for me and Arrow and Revolution are on my list i just haven't had time yet. Also I'm sad Body of Proof is probably going, Nicholas Bishop is my second favorite Aussie on US TV, and also they have Luke Perry. What's not to love?

Ever since I can remember there has been a certain order of priority in television viewing in my house.

When new shows are discovered the interest level is measured by a couple of factors, which may or may not be:

Fire Department

It's simple really. If you made a show that was about an army of Vampires who fought crime and fires in the old west I pretty much guarantee we would be riveted.

Now that you know the way our program choices go, and if you know me, you'll realise that a certain blonde 'actor' has stuffed up another program for me. Any guesses?

I may have availed myself of a copy of Chicago Fire. Because hello, Firefighters and Firetrucks. However, not two minutes in I had the H50 Season 2 teeth grinding going on.

Now she's spoiling the Mainland for me too.

This may include spoilers for some of you but tonight I'm beyond caring. If you are a spoilerphobe go no further. Also opinions contained herein may be unpopular, but guess what? This is MY journal and they are MY opinions. I'm not going to fight or bitch or whatever, but also I'm not apologising for them.

So this is where I’d have a little brain dump of what I thought about the episode. Well normally I would, because I loved the episode. Yes it was a ridiculous case and who knows why they had to go to August March, aside from needing a ‘name’ guest, and Malia’s funeral was heartbreaking, but there are some things that I have seen that are irritating me (surprise, surprise), so instead of my incessant thinkiness about the characters we all love, I’ll leave you with two points.

* Yes, Catherine was at Malia’s funeral. What’s up with the complaining about why is Cath at the paddle out? Or, she didn’t know Malia? How quickly you all forget. Seriously. I remember the squeeing that went on when Steve turned up at Meka’s funeral. Why? Because he knew Danny. Y’all (me included) thought that was adorable. Steve was happy to support his friend, Cath knew Chin, why isn’t she afforded the same fandom thoughts? Charlie was there too and we don't have proof that he knew Malia, why not ask the same question of him, why is Cath being singled out?

* Secondly and don’t get me wrong, I loved the lovely tender little scene on the HHV beach with Chin and Danny, but I don’t get how Danny’s emotion was any more compelling in this ep, than Steve’s was with the reunion with Doris (or any Steve/Doris scenes for that matter) in the last ep when AOL was soundly smacked down by parts of fandom for being not emotional enough.

Honestly, your double standards are showing fandom. The people dissing Catherine are some of the same people who staunchly defended the interloper from last year, and honestly there is room for two leads, they get along why can’t their corners of fandom without sniping at the opposing lead?

Two articles I've seen today.

Article the First

Article the Second

We've had one episode this season that was up against some fairly stiff competition, with from what I've heard limited promotion on CBS's part, isn't it a little early to be calling the undertakers?

Also the comments left by 'fans' on one of those articles I find offensive. Some people have no brain to keyboard filter, they really should learn.

So it's been a big week for TV yes?

Lets get the not as important premieres out of the way shall we?

Last Resort - I was on board with watching this just because of it's filming location, but it really surprised me. The synopsis that they used, did it no favors at all. The scenario that I thought was quite hinky actually turned out to be quite gripping. The have an adorable SEAL too, he's no Steve McGarrett, but for this he'll do.

Elementary - I went into this expecting to hate it, not that I'm a rabid Sherlock fan, but I really am quite lukewarm towards the three stars, but it also surprised me. Lucy Lui was far more likeable than I have ever seen her. And johnny Lee Miller was adorable.

Castle - I used to like Castle so much more, but now it just seems to have turned into a big romance fest for Beckett and Castle. It's good but now it's just the same as every other cop show.

Big Bang Theory - I don't know what I was expecting but I was disappointed. For a premiere it just seemed to fall flat for me.

NCIS - Dependable as always, and I'm glad they didn't kill off anyone that was important to me. Palmer just keeps surprising me, and McGee is still too thin.

NCIS:LA - I don't know why but I was less invested in this than I would be other years, maybe because the cliffhanger was more Sam and G focussed and LA is all about Deeks and Kensi for me, I dunno. It was good but it didn't ring my bells the same way that H50 did.

Okay, now for a round up of H50 things that I've seen floating around over the last few days. I'm cutting because the bulk of them are spoilers.

So how goes your weekends?

So everyone and their mother has seen the episode so we all know what happened. I’m not going to do that, but you know I am full of opinions and I’m about to share them all with you.

For all the ridiculous mission impossible jailbreak scenes as awesome as they were, this wasn’t about the explosions and guns and car chases no matter how much it tried to tell us it was, this was all about the characters we have loved and sometimes learned to love and their struggle to hold it all together.
There was not one mediocre performance in this episode, love them or hate them every one of those actors really pushed each other this episode.

Whilst watching SWAT this morning my thinky brain came out. What is it about certain remakes that works for the bulk of their particular fandoms and what makes it sink like a stone?

I love SWAT, both the movie and the TV Series it came from, y'all know my love of Hawaii Five 0 and I loved the original too, but in a similar vein I loved Dukes of Hazzard, hated the movie, same for the Addams Family, McHale's Navy and a myriad of others.

I'm pretty sure I'd kill to see Black Sheep Squadron remade, but only if they do it properly.

And then there is Charlie's Angels. Sexist or not I loved the original, could just barely tolerate the movies (but I think that was due to Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz and my love for them) and can't even take the abomination that is the remake series seriously.

What is it that makes us love the remakes so much? Is it our love for the new actors? The reworked story? our need to see our favourite characters from our youth continue to live? or something completely different?

Post a list of 20 TV shows you watch/ed.

•Have your friends list guess your favorite character from each show.

•When someone guesses your favorite character, bold the title.

•When guessed, tell us at least one reason why you like that character.

So I've been quiet yes?

[livejournal.com profile] alassenya and I are on a journey, we is. On Thursday we set off for a Stargate Convention in Canada. After a flight that seemed like it was circumnavigating the entire world, twice even! we found ourselves in not so sunny but still incredibly gorgeous Vancouver. Spent Thursday afternoon with the ever lovely and delightfully charming [livejournal.com profile] and_ed who showed us some canadian driving skills, lots of her city and an adorable pub called The Buck and Ear, who by the way has the best waiter, if ever you're there go in and say hi to Ken. There was much fangirl chatting and eating done there and it was the best time, I at least, have had in a long time.

Yesterday we settled in to the convention, met Robert Picardo, Kate Hewlett and Dan Payne that I can at least remember the names. Went to the Cabaret last night and OMG Andee Frizzell and Chuck Campbell are hysterically funny, maybe one day I'll share the fart silencer story we heard. Also Robert Picardo? To say he sings good is an understatement.

Okay, I'm off today is filled with more stuff that I'll more than likely tell you about tomorrow.

Tuesday we're off to Honolulu on our way home.

I'm come to the conclusion that I watch too much television. This will come as no surprise to [livejournal.com profile] alassenya. Tonight when I was balancing what to record and what to watch live I made a list and it frightened even me.

Who do I share these with )
In other news, I have my exchange fic almost ready for beta, she should have it by the time she's home from work.

My Bang fic is also taking much better shape than it had been in. Now I just have to put it together.
