So I promised an update of my thoughts on the latest ep. Great I hear you all say she's remembered.

First off, there is not one case I could care less about than this one. I've always felt some investment in the case de jour but this time nothing.

I love Steve reading Woman's Day, but could they be flaunting the must be gay/bromance angle any harder (you can't tell me that a public office only has only got women's magazines) and then the new girl got me off side right off with the 'would you like the sports section' because he looks like a real man and manly men would only be interested in the sports section right?

The Governor? I like him but reaming Steve out (even politely) in front of someone else - someone who doesn't know Steve, not a good move. Though there is never a bad time for the no offense none taken and the confusion of their reasons for why hell no this shouldn't happen, but there ends the love for that scene.

SO rather than pick every thing to pieces because I will, you know I will, lets revert to dot points shall we.

things I like

# she followed in her car, the writers know that Danny is Steve's Goose and we will accept no imitators.

# the cute, attractive, and lets see if she lasts exchange was priceless.

# GQ, Sgt Slaughter etc, Danny and his nicknames are Five-0 gold.

# the way Chin cut them off before Steve could answer Danny about the arms length thing was good

# there is nothing about Max that is not made of love.

# The horses, (right behind my gun kink is a seriously strong Cowboy kink.)were perfect. All they needed was hats and I might have died and gone to cowboy heaven.

# Steve and Danny shoulder to shoulder during the firefight was all sorts of adorable.

# Seriously well mannered and trained horses was good.

# Steve shooting out the plane tyre. Bloody ridiculous, but it's Steve, who would change a thing.

Things I didn't like

# the IA Goon I have so much affection for him I didn't even stop to remember his name.

# the new girl. The forced flirting, the whole persona. I didn't want to hate her, and I don't yet, but there is no love, maybe she'll grow on me, but there is too much in this one ep. I get the need for it but they pushed her in too hard, too fast.

# that whole coffee house scene, could it have been any more forced.

# I want Danny's tie back, the tie went away and things have gone straight to hell.

# speaking of wardrobe? Tee shirt and cargoes, anyone? I have a feeling we won't get our Steve back until he gets the right clothes back. I don't like the cheap suits, I don't like the borrowed clothes, I don't like the fact you can hear his shoes when he walks. I want our Steve back goddammit.

# my main kink with this show (aside from the guns/action/hot bodies) is Steve's eyes. I can count on two fingers, yes two, exactly two occasions when the emotion that Steve was giving verbally actually met his eyes. And don't get me started on that front. I love Alex's talent, his ability to change completely with every character he's played, I love the way he can deliver a script's emotion without even opening his mouth, but this episode? This was pod!Steve, or rather this was Alex trying his damnedest to get into Steve's skin and it didn't quite work.

Things I assume

# Steve so knows about Jenna, that look when they came back to HQ and that conversation in his office and finally the leaving hug? He's so all over her ass for cheating on the team, but he tried to get her to fess up or ask for help and she didn't take it.

# Kono is working on something with IA, this whole ep was about her cutting her ties with the team so that it was more believable with whoever could be observing. She's going to kickass and take no prisoners in a future ep because of us. You just watch.

The thing about the magazine... Steve actually said to Lori that he'd been waiting to see the Governor for a VERY long time before she got there & he'd already gone through all the other magazines in the waiting room besides the Woman's Day he was seen reading as the ep opened. I guess I was pretty much the only viewer who caught that bit of dialogue.

He implied that was why he was reading it, but he never actually said it. To me, it was said defensively when she pointedly looked at it smirking and he said 'I've clearly been here a while."

Cheap suits? I really doubt that suit he wore to meet with the governor was "cheap."

so let me re-qualify that because I'm sure it cost squillions but it sure looked cheap.

I'm putting this episode down to poor writing and moving on.

I wonder if this was written before they picked up on fan reaction to Lori being love interest for Steve? Because if I'd turned on to this as my first viewing of this show, I'd have said that Steve and Lori were the main characters and that it was going to be a Castle-style will they/won't they scenario. But Lauren German herself is saying that she's not seeing Lori as love interest now.

I loved the small Steve/Danny moments (thrown in as a sop to the fans, maybe?) but I didn't like the way they pretty much ignored what's going on with the sidelined characters. So we got a cheerful and upbeat Danny, and Kono going to the IA hearing without the support of a fellow team member (and her predicament hardly appearing to cross the radar of the other team members). It's as though the writers just didn't bother to *think* about the characterisations of the characters they weren't focussed on.

I doubt Danny would have called him "Mr. GQ" if it looked cheap. It was well fitting and nicely made from good fabric. What was cheap looking about it?

I mean, the only thing I've heard from anyone else about the suit is how good he looked in it and how cool it was that Danny complimented him.

Steve was breathtakingly beautiful in that suit (as he is in everything). The blue shirt was fantastic on him.
Azaria is right, the fact that no one was even slightly concerned about Kono was totally vile, Especially since Steve is walking away scott free.
I've always believed that Kono is working for IA to bust the dirty cops led by Daniel Baldwin.
Is it just me or is the macho Steve stuff becoming a bit heavy-handed? I love Alex and I know he loves doing the stunts but the show seems to be getting more and more about Super SEAL stunts than it is about characters or police work or friendship.
