Day 8: Do you write OCs? And if so, what do you do to make certain they're not Mary Sues, and if not, explain your thoughts on OCs.

I tend not to write OC's and if I do they're always the victim and don't have much of a speaking role in the fic anyway. If I'm writing fanfic I prefer to keep the characters to people that the reader will know.

Day 9: Pairings: For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favourite pairings to write?

I'm a bit odd, since I've started sharing fanfic my scope has changed. I started without a set OTP in fandoms, I'd jump from fandom to fandom, from pairing to pairing, but I've narrowed my focus with each fandom I've landed in

The Young Riders
Kid/Lou
Kid/Jimmy
Jimmy/Buck

Magnificent Seven
Ezra/Vin
Ezra/Buck
Buck/JD

LOTRips
Billy Boyd/Dominic Monaghan
David Wenham/Orlando Bloom
Billy Boyd/Orlando Bloom (sensing a theme here?)

Hawaii Five-0

Day 1: How did you first get into writing fanfic, and what was the first fandom you wrote for? What do you think it was about that fandom that pulled you in?

Short answer? Since I have been old enough to hold a pen/pencil I've been cobbling words together anyway I can. Other kids my age were colouring in and drawing, not me, I was painting pictures with words. Monochromatic, boring pictures at the time but still pictures. Writing was a by product of my other first love. Reading. From preschool age I drove my mother nuts. She would lose me in the supermarket and would always find me sitting on the floor in the cereal aisle reading the back of the boxes. So it was practically preordained that it wasn't going to be long before I started making new stories for the stuff I was soaking up from the tv.

First fandom I wrote for? Probably the Hardy Boys (remember the version with Shaun Cassidy and Parker Stevenson) but I think I was writing Three for the Road (Leif Garrett, Vince Van Patten and Alex Roccos) and original Battlestar Galactica (You know the one where Starbuck is a hot guy and not a chick) fic at about the same time.

Hell, I remember at around the same time, seeing the original Battlestar Movie on the same day as the Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band movie (you know the really cheesy one with all the satin, Peter Frampton, the BeeGees and Alice Cooper?) and going home and writing missing scenes that I thought should have been in both movies.

First fic I seriously wrote and posted on the internet was The Young Riders.

Actually, does anyone remember the old Battle of the Network Stars they used to have once a year or so in the late 70's, early 80's? They really should do them again, whats not entertaining about watching that?

Oh, by the way, I tend to ramble and rarely give a short or coherent answer, just ask [livejournal.com profile] alassenya.
