kapuahiSo I watched the finale. I've been on pins and needles for the last week waiting for it but when all was said and done for me it was a little anticlimatic.
Straight up for me the bulk of the ep had a far better plot than most of the eps so far, though the Danny/custody thing is getting a little tired. I'm guessing we're going to get single dad Danny in S3, or hoping we are anyway.
Being the good I'd-like-to-be-a-gun-toting-red-neck that I am the gunfights, explosions and car chases were all good for me, take note of that show, we need to see more Camaro chasing things. I approve of sideways corners.
Odd things I note?
Fryer might be a neanderthal hardass, but he's still a cop. Whilst I'm not sorry to see him go I was glad to see our team put whatever bad blood might have once been behind them to seek out his killer with such tenacity.
I was sure Max was going to be offed, I'm glad it didn't happen, however, as I like Max and his quirky geeky ways. Also much love to Kamekona and his shrimp flavored tofu and Live Long and Prosper balloons. Side note? My slash goggles, they say there is a couple in there somewhere.
Kono and Adam. Again I say I love this pairing. He's not a bad man, but more importantly he's affluent, no matter what the charges and I don't think his charges would have been anywhere near as bad as we would have anticipated, he would have been out of jail same day. Regardless, he's good a good partner for her and he clearly loves her and she does him. We don't need to see it all happen on screen, and she had two phone calls with him so clearly it is serious. I'm not convinced she's surviving but if she does I'd be surprised if Adam isn't somehow involved.
Danny/Custody. I love that Danny has found a home and is finally making his stand against Rachel. I suspect Rachel is going to give up custody or at least relinquish for the time they're in LV making Danny single dad next season, but honestly there is more to Danny than just custody, we've been beaten over the head with it in two finales, lets move on shall we.
Chin: I hate the fact that AOL was sick and had to miss episodes but that gave Chin more screen time and who can ever complain about that. He did and outstnading job with this episode. I have a weird inkling that neither Malia or Kono will survive, which would break Chin completely, but give him much more to deal with, and would give them the 'organic' entry into the team that Lenkov says Cath will get.
Shelburne: I knew that was Steve's mother from the moment Joe called when he had Hiro in his trunk. How? Don't know but Steve had better not forgive her straight up, shes the reason he's such an emotional trainwreck, even if Steve forgives her, Danny won't.
Joe: I still don't like him and was plugging for him to be the casualty. He's no good for Steve, and is only going to get him in trouble. That and Steve doesn't need his emotions pulled hither and dither every time Joe turns up.
Steve/AOL: It's so good to see him looking healthy and back in top form. I know I'm a broken record sometimes, but honestly whoever says he can't act clearly has rocks in their heads. I know it's not hard to make me cry but this is the second finale his face alone has had me in tears. But this episode? with the confusion when he's with Joe and the all business chasing Chaver, and the affection with Danny in the carguments were great but that lost confused and broken teenager that morphed out of the all business SEAL, and the break in his voice when he said "Mom", that was heartbreaking. When is someone going to recognise that he is more than a pretty face. Though on the subject of that pretty, emotive face, that right there has the capacity to make me miss the big plot holes, especially when he's doing that emoting business I certainly don't see what's going on anywhere else. Also is it slightly wrong that seeing him take shots to the vest was kinda hot?
