So this was the week we were supposed to have Sunset on the Beach 2012. Well not supposed to, but should have according to past years schedules. Except, we didn't. But that didn't stop those of us that were already booked or already on the ground in Honolulu. A big part of that success was Bruce and Yaling of Aloha Travel, and they managed to make the entire pseudoSOTB into a completely amazing experience, but we'll get to that if you hang in there with me.

We disembarked the Pride of America on the Saturday morning and made our way with our gaudy hawaiian print luggage to our home for the next 6 days, The Aston Waikiki Beach, which as we later found out was where Atwater met his end in Po'ipu (The General Pak episode for those of you that don't do episode names).

We met up with [livejournal.com profile] lou_c at Starbucks downstairs and chatted for a while, then hit Queen's Beach for some sun for us and some snorkelling for [livejournal.com profile] lou_c, then it was off to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] finduilas_clln and the first fun filled adventure with Bruce and Yaling and the rest of the H50 fans. Which it turned out was catamaraning off of Waikiki Beach.

[livejournal.com profile] finduilas_clln was the only one brave enough to ride the net of our little group.

Back on shore we split up and did our own thing for a few hours, but made plans to meet up at the Cheescake factory for dinner.

Meet [livejournal.com profile] lou_c, [livejournal.com profile] sylvanelfqueen, [livejournal.com profile] finduilas_clln and her lovely and tolerant friend and travelling companion.

We went next door to Dukes for a drink before dinner and amusingly, I had worn my Some New Jersey Cops Marry Navy Seals tee shirt and had a woman come up and ask me where I got it because (as she pointed him out) her husband - in the military no less, liked it and wanted to get hold of one.

Anyway, I don't think Honolulu was quite ready for the meeting of four H50 fic writers, because we talked and had a wonderful time all through dinner, and a long chat standing on the footpath chattering excitedly about fic and fandom in general. Lets just say there may be a fic in the making where the Five-0 members are part of the Olympic Gymnastics team, because Chin Ho on the Pommel Horse is very appealing. I'm sure Catrien thought we were all crazy. We reluctantly parted ways, and said goodbye to [livejournal.com profile] finduilas_clln because she was off to Molokai. I was accosted by a random quiet merry woman on the way home who hugged me and told me with much gesitculation that she either liked my chest or my t-shirt. I'm going with she liked the t-shirt because the other way was too weird.

Sunday afternoon we were off to the H50 Locations tour that culminated in a Kualoa Ranch Luau, and OMG it was so much fun. Before we left Honolulu we saw some of the filming sights and related scenery, we met a lovely couple from New Zealand and another couple from Canada and a whole nother bunch of Aussies.

Come, take the pictorial tour with me.

We met Dennis Chun, Brian Yang and Teilor Grubbs (and her adorable Daddy) that night as well, and I must admit I'm more than a little smitten with Dennis, I wanted to bring him home with us and as soon as he heard we were Aussies he waxed quite lyrically about AOL and how lovely he is to work with and how proud we should be of him. Teilor btw, is 10 years old and an adorable little girl. You're not being graced with pictures because one picture of me in a post is quite enough thank you.

Monday was quite possibly the best day of the whole Hawaii Five-0 week of experiences but I'm thinking it's going to be incredibly graphics intensive so I might save that for a post all on it's own. We got to go, quite spur of the moment, to the soundstage while we were on our way to the Bayer Estate.
