So, I have my own little review coming soon but I'm curious, was anyone else disappointed by this ep?

I forgive Five-0 a lot of things. I can deal with the as if moments, I can deal with the complete fuck up that is most of the science/forensics that happen. Why? Because I like the characterization, I love the location, I adore the actors and I am deliriously happy with the bromance and the interactions between the four leads. And thusfar there has never been an episode that has disappointed me.

Tonight, that is not the case.

Steve didn't look comfortable from start to finish. The whole team deserted Kono at the hearing, what was that about? And we got what 35 mins of Lori? Jenna got less than ten minutes in her first ep, so was Jenna robbed or Lori overdone. I know where my thoughts lay, but that's just me.

Nope, you are not alone. I complained a bit about it on my LJ already. It's like they *wanted* us to dislike NewGirl.

I'm so upset over the whole Kono thing. The more I think about it, the angrier I get.

Lori was definitely WAY overdone. Her intro should not have been more important than what was happening with Kono at all.

Thing is, these guys might stretch the bullshit factor on forensics, science, plausibility. Hell with them the Magic Bullet theory happens every week, but, writing their characters? That's their bread and butter, that is 90% of what draws us back every single week. They know that as well as we know that. And they have never monumentally fucked up, well maybe they stretched it a little with the Baby thing but for the most part they've been spot on with how they use the cahracters, how they introduced them and how they work for us within the story.

Then we get Lori, first off they stuff up their first release with the whole 'female McGarrett, love interest angle.' That immediately puts 70% of fandom on edge. Now? We get overexposure of her in her first episode when Jenna and Rachel in their first episodes get around 10 minutes screen time, and neither of them were universally loved in that first glimpse either, but they didn't comandeer the whole episode.

I do have a point honestly, I think they're setting her up to be hated/scorned by fandom. These guys know their shit but they've blatantly disregarded everything that would give us any fondness for her at all.
