Ponderations re the ongoing team
Oct. 19th, 2011 12:27 amY'all know me, I overthink the crap out of things.
I had a thought earlier. There are five members of the team now. We all know that right?
As much as I would dance joyfully in response they're not going to leave their new golden child to be the fifth wheel, they're not going to waste all the time they have invested in her. After all, she hasn't had nearly enough time on screen yet to integrate her intofuck up the team yet has she?
Here's what I think. Chin and Kono are going to stay the same, and Kono can think herself lucky that she doesnt get to play partner to Loribot. Danny however, he's another matter completely. They've set themselves up to at least temporarily move Danny in with Steve. So in the scary minds of a television writer, that gives them their job done. Steve and Danny together, it should give them one definite scene an episode together, right? That leaves the way clear for Danny to mostly partner up with Loribot, which would leave Steve footloose and fancy free and doing 'bosslike' things.
Up to 123 I would have argued that these guys couldn't fuck anything up that badly but then they got Rachel pregnant and everything for the most part went to hell in a handbasket.
so....that's what I think, what do you think?
Also, anyone else think my Steve icon up there shares a slight resemblance to Point Break Keanu Reeves?

Date: 2011-10-18 02:57 pm (UTC)So yeah, Danny and Steve 80% partners - at least. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. =)

Date: 2011-10-18 03:20 pm (UTC)They would have done at least up to 206 before viewing reaction dipped. I'm thinking it will be at least 208 before we see things go back to what they really should be. so for the next three episodes we're going to be with pass the Loribot. And I can't help but think Danny is going to draw the short straw. Maybe because he's the only one with real manners.
Though I seriouslywant to see Kono use the Barbie line.
I think it will be more like 60/40.

I'll stop being a bitch now :)

Date: 2011-10-18 05:53 pm (UTC)But yeah, you're probably right. Though I can also buy the theory that they threw Lori at us ad nauseum at first with the full intention of tapering her off by 2-5, just to introduce her, then have her be a more regular team member - because last night's ep was a much more manageable amount of Lori and that would have been in the can before people started making Lenkov voodoo dolls. But hey, what do I know. *goes back to being hopelessly optimistic*
And LOL at Danny and the short straw - he IS the only one with real manners. Can't you just hear that conversation... "You go with the new girl." "No, its your turn, I did it last time." And then yeah, Kono making a snarky Barbie remark. Hee.

Date: 2011-10-19 03:53 am (UTC)As far as Rachel's pregnancy is concerned, I vaguely remember someone posting a comment at the end of last season/over the summer hiatus (I think it was on Television Without Pity's H50 thread) that Claire van der Boom might be, or actually is, pregnant in real life. The poster who said this, however, DID NOT have any media report to link to confirming said statement. It was all their word alone.
If she IS pregnant in real life, that would make sense regarding the sudden writing in of Rachel being pregnant. It's their admirable, IMHO, attempt to accommodate Claire's condition by writing it into the plot instead of having her wear bulky clothes, which really aren't a "Hawaii" thing, or having to figure out other ways to cleverly conceal it that make sense in a show set in Hawaii, let alone having to write her out entirely because she can't fly in to film due to medical/airline restrictions based on what point of the pregnancy she's in at the time (she would be coming from either LA or Australia probably, depending; LA is normally a 5 or 6 hour plane ride to Hawaii & Sydney, Australia is, like, a 9-hour plane ride).
Although... If she IS pregnant, in real life, maybe that's why they've kept Rachel (& even Grace) offscreen thus far in S2. That would make sense too. Although they could easily have brought Gracie back before now seeing as Gracie was seen in at least 3 S1 episodes before we ever actually saw/met Rachel in person.
