Music is the heart of life to me. I have a song for everything and everyone and every mood, every memory even. Most of us do, even if we don't consciously realise it. I'm going to share some of the music that is important to me here, the reasons why it is and maybe even some memories along the way. I should probably apologise from the get go because the bulk of this music is going to be Australian with a heavy dose of British
First cab off the rank? I Hear Motion//The Models.
When I was younger, in my first long term job actually, I was in an office with four other girls all of us around the same age. We all had wildly verying musical tastes. I did the english new romantic stuff. Leanne she did American Rock ala Johnny Cougar as he was then, Dianne, she did Aussie Pub Rock ala Cold Chisel, Liesel she did Punk ala Sex Pistols and Estelle she loved Opera. But unusually for such divergent tastes we all gelled, we all had boyfriends in different homegrown bands (except for Stell, she had a girlfriend who just happened to have the voice of an angel)we would all willingly and happily immerse ourselves in the music the others loved.
Thats where The Models come in, I think they were the first concert we went to as a group. You'll defintiely hear more about the girls later, we worked together for 15 years, they're at the hear of a lot of my musical memories.
About the band? They were a relatively successful aussie band in the 80's, they've had sadder times lately, the Bassist, James Freud took his own life a few years back, which is sad, he was a beautiful man just very troubled, even back then.
BTW if anyone wants any of the songs I share here, let me know
